NEXT STEPS VISIT.

After the next steps community group visited our project last summer Participaction members finally took up the invite to visit Next Steps. In early February 2006 Participaction members visited the Malton based project and enjoyed socialising over a buffet lunch. An Invite has again been extended to the members of next steps to attend for a barbecue in the summer months.

BARBECUE - FOUNDATIONS LAID

Over the past couple of weeks (Feb 2006) Participaction members have been busy building brick barbecue for use in the summer months. A concrete foundation has been laid and the first bricks are now set in place. It wont be long until Barry's famous sausages are sizzling again.

“Wine and Dine”

On 29th November we had a visit from a Scarborough therapeutic gardening group incorporating Rainbow Vineyard and Mustard Seed projects. This exciting group, based in Barrowcliff in Scarborough, have planted vines and in due course will make their own wine. We had a great day exchanging ideas and discussing areas of good practice. Our little members shed had never seen so many people! We would like to thank Rainbow Vineyard for their gift of 6 vines. Niki our soft fruit project leader is busy reading up on grapevines and we will place them in their new positions in January.

What a busy December it seems to have been! On 5th December we had our Christmas dinner at The Duke of York. This turned out to be as enjoyable as ever – good food and drink and excellent company. Thank you, Barrie, for organising this special event.

“Deck the Hall with boughs of Holly”

“Perennial Arrangements” was finally launched this month, when on 12th December the first of 4 workshops took place at Sleights Village Hall. Funded by a Micro grant from ‘Awards for All’, these workshops are designed to enable older local people design and make their own floral decorations.  The first event was well attended and participants produced some artistic and colourful Christmas arrangements. The workshops will continue in the New Year. Thank you to Margot for organising this project.
